Vibrating Optical Mouse This Japanese gadget is a optical mouse that vibrates! Yes, vibrate! Powered by USB, this mouse is supposed to be a true stress reliever. From searching the internet, it looks like the vibrating feature is very weak, and the mouse doesn’t fully work while in vibration mode. So it might not be the greatest invention in the world, but could you imagine the look of your local Geek Squad when you ask to have this puppy installed?

tivo series 3 lite

I started with Tivo.  I was happy.   Then I upgraded to a HD TV.    Left Tivo, for a comcast DVR.  No longer happy.

The great news is that TIVO is coming out with a TIVO series 3 lite version.    I plan on camping ouside of the local Best Buy 3 days before it comes out to make sure I get mine.   The line starts right after me.

From unconfirmed sources it looks like the TIVO will start at $299,  dual HD tuners and a 160 GB Harddrive.   What it is missing from the standard TIVO series 3 is the larger hard drive (250GB), OLED display, and a shiny remote.

Only 2 clicks is a new start-up looking to become your start page. What is unique to Only 2 clicks is that when you log in, it takes a snapshot of web pages and displays them on one single slick web site. Almost like having many sites in one. Great for websites that don’t have rss feeds or that need a quick glance.

http://www.desktopography.net/

Let’s face it, most people have very boring desktop wallpaper. I have never seen a survey on the topic, but my guess is that most people are using the same wallpaper that came with the computer. I think it’s time for a change! Point your browsers over to http://www.desktopography.net/ and view a virtual art gallery, some of the best looking wallpaper on the net. Your eyes, and fellow cubicle dwellers will thank you.

crayon physics

Very simple and fun. You draw crayon boxes and rectangles to get the little red ball to the little star. Simple right? Well maybe if I didn’t get a C in Physics! This highly addictive game, although very short is the brain child of Petri Purho , famous for making monthly mini games. This game is only 5 levels and will take a good 15 minutes to get to the end… as soon as it is done, you’ll want more!

Give this minigame a try and tell us what you think.

When working on web pages I tend to screw up often. There are times when I’ll rewite a piece of code that screws up the site, and wish I had an older version to work on. FileHamster helps hide my screw ups.

filehamster

FileHamster works in the background as a document archiver/revision handler… So feel free to change documents as you wish, FileHamster will keep a backup.     It also works well on saved word documents, pictures, and anything else you would modify and save.

Best of all it’s free!

Frets on FireWhat do you get when you mix Guitar Hero with Geek-knowhow? Weezer! Frets on Fire!

Very similar Guitar Hero, Frets on Fire is a open source (free) game that runs on Windows/Mac OSX/Linux.

The coolest feature with Frets on Fire is that you can make your very own playable songs. .. no matter how eclectic your music tastes are. Feel free to create songs and play along with Willie Nelson’s greatest hits! From what I can tell creating a song isn’t too terribly hard, but it is a little time intensive.

After giving it a whirl, I thought it was almost as fun as the Guitar Hero series.
